We exhibited at the 2009 Poker in the Park, which was the first public demonstration of PTG Poker. The diversity of players visiting the booth ranged from long time professionals to micro stakes losers and included casino card room players, online players, pub players and home game players. Also visiting were staff and executives from the regulated commercial bricks and mortar and online industries and associated parties such as media and affiliates.
With such a diversity of visitors there was bound to be a similar diversity of opinion about PTG Poker. The spectrum of opinion ranged from the very negative to the very positive. The majority of players said that they would try PTG Poker and a significant number of players asked where it could be played. The majority of players understood the logistics of PTG Poker immediately. All the benefits and effects of PTG Poker were not immediately obvious but were generally well understood after a brief explanation.
The vast majority of objections to PTG Poker were related to the fact that it diminished the impact of position. This is of course the whole purpose of PTG Poker. PTG Poker should appeal to novice players, recreational players and non-professional players. PTG Poker should also appeal to the true professional players who understand how skilful poker really is and who understand the breadth of skills required to maximise the amount won with a superior hand and to minimise the amount lost with an inferior hand.
It was clear from player responses that many players were not familiar with any structure other than two blinds in the conventional positions. As this structure is not the best structure for PTG Poker and as PTG Poker can be played with any structure, a new page has been added to the site in the About section called Structure.
PTG was very pleased with the overall response to PTG Poker.
PTG Poker, a new fairer, more enjoyable variation of poker is to be launched at Poker in the Park at Leicester Square on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 August 2009.
PTG Poker makes poker fairer for less experienced players by alternating the direction of play and by reducing the significance of position.
At Poker in the Park, operators and players will be introduced to the rules of this dynamic new poker variation and will have the chance to discuss PTG Poker with the inventor, Derek Webb, who also invented the most popular proprietary casino table game Three Card Poker.
